The total lunar eclipse reached totality after it had set as viewed from the Florida panhandle. Dennis Hausch and Dave Halupowski braved the 30° temperature to catch the eclipse as the Moon set and the Sun rose.
Mars is just above and slightly to the right of the Moon. It is very faint. Mars will be easier to see if you click on the picture and get the full size version.
Dennis took this image of the 3-way conjunction on the 26th of May from Tom’s Bayou bridge. The planets are from bright to dim: Venus, Jupiter, and Mercury.
Dennis dug down deep in his archives and found images that he took of a rare apparition in Northwest Florida, the aurora borealis. These were taken on the 2oth of November 2003 at the Munson observing site.
