Lunar eclipse (31 Jan 2018)

The total lunar eclipse reached totality after it had set as viewed from the Florida panhandle. Dave Halupowski and Dennis Hausch braved the 30° temperature to catch the eclipse as the Moon set and the Sun rose.

Approximately 12 million years ago, a white dwarf star in the galaxy M 82 exploded. This week, light from the distant supernova finally reached Earth.
